General Description: Located directly on the Natchez Trace Parkway, Tishimingo State Park is situated in a rural setting.  Along with hiking trails, picnic areas, and a disc golf course, Tishimingo provides the opportunity for camping.  The campgrounds consists of 6 cabins, 1 cottage, and 62 RV campsites along with primitive camping areas. The RV campsites are located around the shores of a small lake.  Each site has water and electrical hookups along with picnic table and barbecue stand.  Other amenities include small playground, access to the lake for fishing and canoeing, and restrooms/showers.

Impressions:

1) As a rule, the campground is fairly old and in need of some repairs.  The roads themselves are in good shape, but the concrete pads at each site has been eroded around.  This meant that for many sites there was a dropoff on each side of the pad.  We had to use some wood planks to create a bottom step from the end of our steps on the RV as the ground was nearly two feet to the ground.

2) The staff were friendly and helpful.  The site we had reserved had problems with our RV, the worst being no room to swing the truck around to get the RV backed into the site.  In early April, there were a lot of alternate sites available and the staff assisted in finding one that would be more suitable.

3) The restrooms/showers were clean and modern, although one of the restrooms was out of service.  It just so happened that this was the closest restroom to our site, which meant we had a pretty good hike to the next closest restroom.

4) The disc golf course is very well laid out through the woods.  The front nine fairways parallel the road and hugs the rocky terrain bordering the road.  This makes for some interesting fairways with pins hidden down inside splits in the rocks and off the edge of the rocky shelves.  The back nine are all fairly level fairways back through the woods.  All of the fairways have multiple trees making for technical challenges, however, the roughs were fairly clear of undergrowth.  This was important for me since I spend a lot of time bouncing discs off of trees into the roughs.
