Location: Double Springs, Alabama
Website: USFS Campground
General Description: Located in the Bankhead National Forest in northwest Alabama, the Corinth Recreation Area provides a nice campground far from the beaten path. With paved roads and gravel sites the campground offers full hookups and lengths that can accommodate any sized RV. Most of the sites are back-in, but their are a few pull-through sites for the larger rigs. Other facilities are limited to restrooms and showers and nice views of the lake.
1) The campgrounds is laid out in two loops, both with sites that overlook the lake from the top of the bluff and sites in the trees. Our site was away from the lake in the trees. All of the sites are very spacious with picnic table, fire ring, and lantern poles.
2) The restrooms are very modern with showers, however they are not heated as far as I could tell. This made it a challenge on cold mornings.
3) The campground hosts were very friendly, although we had to call them to check us in as they also have duties in the campgrounds during the day. There were only about a dozen campers in the loop we occupied during the week and it was around half full on the weekend. Plenty of sites with full hookups and very reasonable rates, especially with a Federal Senior Pass.
