General Description: In the heart of the Gulf Coast Region, Rainbow Plantation is a community of RV enthusiasts, most living the full time life style of RV living. With 87 full hookup sites and a clubhouse with adjoining swimming pool and laundry facilities, Rainbow Plantation provides all the necessities for a great experience. Although the sites are all back-in, they are spacious with plenty of room between them. The long term residents have planned activities every day ranging from line dancing to cards and trivia. Social time is at 4 pm every day and every Sunday afternoon has an ice cream social. Interest groups from computer to sewing and knitting meet every week to work on projects for local charities and churches. Special occasions such as holidays are marked with community meals and activities.
1) The community atmosphere is a stark contrast from any other RV park or state park we have stayed in. Our neighbors willingly provided advice and assistance on the care and maintenance of our RV. For instance, we had three of our neighbors trying to assist me in backing in the RV. Even though their advice was often contradictory, they meant well and made the experience less stressful.
2) The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, even giving us a hug when we moved in. We have enjoyed our three weeks here and hope to stay for a longer period next winter.
3) We did not take advantage of all the activities while we were there, since our interest was to spend time visiting the National Seashore and state parks. However, the activities we did participate in were very enjoyable and we always felt welcomed.
4) We planned our visit to include the Thanksgiving holiday and we ended up in charge of our table for the Thanksgiving meal. This meant we had to contact all the other people at our table and plan the meal. Although we were caught off guard, everyone made it easy and the meal came off great. Their chefs provided the turkey and gravy and we did the rest.
