General Description: Located very close to I-81 between Winchester and Harrisonburg, Virginia, Shenandoah Valley Campground is a good place to spend a few days within easy driving distance of Shenandoah Mountains National Park. Accommodations include pull through and back in sites with full hookups, as well as, cabins and tent sites. Amenities include a nice covered meeting area in the center of the campground, restroom/showers, propane, swimming pool, campstore, snack bar, laundry facilities, and playground with horseshoes, corn hole, and basketball court.
1) The entire campground is small and well laid out behind the store/office. The sites are relatively small, but adequate with enough room for a picnic table and fire ring. The campground is only a couple of years old and very well maintained.
2) The only problem I had with Shenandoah Valley Campground was it’s proximity to Interstate 81. I could literally have thrown rocks at the passing vehicles on the Interstate from our campsite, which meant there was constant traffic noise all night long. Thankfully the weather in September was cool, so by keeping the windows closed made it tolerable.
3) The bathrooms and showers are kept very cleaned and stocked. They were clearly only a couple of years old and very modern.
