General Description: Located on Lake Hartwell, near Hartwell, Georgia, Watsadler Corps of Engineers campgrounds offers 49 campsites on the lakeshore. All sites have 50 amp electric and water hookups and are a mix of back-in and pull-through sites. The campgrounds are organized in two main loops with restrooms/showers and dump station for each loop. All sites are dirt accessed from a one-lane paved road.
1) You could not ask for a more beautiful setting then looking out over Lake Hartwell from the front door of the RV. Many of the sites are back-in, however, all are right along the shore line. The sites are all dirt, which means they do get muddy when it rains, but the view of the lake is worth it. Especially during sunrise. With all the sites along the lake there is a lot of room between the sites, which all have a fire pit and picnic table.
2) The restrooms are fairly clean and a bit dated, but functional. They do not provide any soap for washing your hands in the bathroom, which was unusual for COE campgrounds.
3) The volunteer staff were friendly and helpful, but during March they only work from 2-5 in the afternoon. So if you show up at other times you have to know what site you have reserved and deal with them later.
