General Description: From the top of Mt Hosmer, 450 feet above Lansing, Iowa, visitors are rewarded with a panoramic view of 50 miles of the Upper Mississippi River Valley. The park is named for Harriet Hosmer, a sculptress who won a foot race to the top of the mountain during a steamboat layover in the 1850s.
1) While there is not much to do on Mt Hosmer except take pictures or eat lunch at a picnic table, it is well worth the drive up to the top of the bluff. The views of the Mississippi River Valley are truly remarkable.
