General Description: Central to Calais and Eastport, Maine, Hilltop Campground overlooks New Brunswick and Passamaquoddy Bay. Hilltop is a medium size campground on the top of a hill with all the amenities for a relaxing stay. Most sites are back-in and the electricity is restricted to 30 amp, but all of the sites are full-hookups. Amenities include a swimming pool, recreation hall, restrooms/showers, playground, trout pond, and paddle boat rentals.
1) Nothing fancy, but the staff are friendly and helpful with lots of information about local restaurants and places to visit. It is a comfortable and we were able to get a pull-through site, so we were quite comfortable. Being on the top of a hill was nice for the breezes and the view of the bay made it worthwhile.
2) The bathroom/showers have the appearance of being unfinished and rough, but are clean and functional.
3) Most of the sites are taken with seasonal campers, leaving only a few (maybe a dozen) for temporary visitors. Most of the seasonal are well kept and tidy, so as long as they have the space available I would stay here again.
