General Description: Shady Oaks Campground is a medium size campground with 70 camping sites and 5 cabins. The majority of the sites are full hookups, back-in sites. Most of the sites are large enough for large rigs. Amenities include bathrooms/showers, two laundry facilities, dump station, and free Wi-Fi. Other amenities include a swimming pool, small country store, propane, horseshoe pit, playground, and activities building. It is close to the Maine coast with easy access to Acadia National Park and Bangor.
Impressions: 1) We found the campgrounds to be very well maintained with clean sites and facilities. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, making our stay comfortable.
2) The bathroom facilities are a bit rustic but very clean.
3) During the summer, the campground is over half full with seasonal RVs, that are generally used on the weekends. We stayed over the 4th of July holiday when the campground completely filled up. The staff put on quite a show with activities on the 4th for the children and bingo for the adults. They hired a good country band from 11-2 and served hamburgers to all the guests who contributed side dishes for a very good lunch. They even had a parade where the children rode in a small train around the park with guests following in their carts. Everyone had a good time. 4) We would certainly stay here again in the future.
