General Description: Wright’s Orchard Station Campground is a small campground on the edge of Altoona, conveniently located just off of I-99. With grassy sites, both shaded and open, there are a sites for all sizes of RVs. Nearly all of the sites have full hookups (30 amps) with a mix of back-in and pull-through sites. Amenities include laundry facilities and pavilion.
1) This campground is small with only 35 sites, but there are only a couple of seasonal campers, so it has more sites for transient guests then most larger campgrounds in the area.
2) Since it is located right behind a self-storage facility on a busy street, your first impression as you pull off the street is not very good. Immediately after pulling off the street you must stop and register in the office for the self-storage. However, once you pull on back into the campground you are in for a pleasant surprise. The campground is very well maintained with nice spacious grassy sites and the self storage buildings block all the noise and vision of the busy street.
3) The bathroom facilities are very nice and modern, which also contains the laundry facilities and a small country store that is only open when you ask the owners. Since their is a Walmart less than 1/2 mile up the street, this was not as issue.
4) If you are looking for a campground with lots of recreational facilities such as swimming pools and playgrounds for kids, then this is not the campground for you. Since we have no need for these it was nice to stay in a quiet campground. They do have a small pavilion in the center of the campground that they use for small events. For instance they hosted a nacho snack on Saturday afternoon while we were there.
