Lake Aire RV Park and Campground – October 2014

Location: Hollywood, South Carolina

Webpage: RV Park

General Description: Located southwest of Charleston, just off US 17, Lake Aire RV Park and Campground is conveniently located to downtown Charleston and surrounding historic attractions without the noise and traffic of a large city.  Stores and restaurants are within 8 miles and downtown Charleston is only 15 miles away.  Nearly all of the sites have full hookups and most of the sites are pull through with sufficient room between the sites for a picnic table and fire ring.  There are many large trees to provide shade and two ponds with very friendly ducks.  Amenities include a swimming pool, laundry and bathroom facilities, and large general use grills and picnic areas.

Impressions:

1) Lake Aire is a very nice RV park.  Our site faced directly at one of the small ponds so we had a convenient bench to sit at and enjoy the water.  There were also some large ducks that made the ponds their home.  By the end of the two weeks the ducks would come and visit nearly anytime we stepped out of the RV, especially in the morning and late afternoons.  They, along with two noisy squirrels, were harvesting the acorns dropping from the live oak tree between the sites.  I am certain they were hoping for some handouts as well.

2) The staff were friendly and helpful, giving us a choice between two sites.  One was by itself in a wooded corner that would have been nice, but I was concerned with the distance to the electrical hookup (I think we would have been fine).  The other was along the first row of sites with a view of the pond.

3) The bathrooms were a bit dated, but were kept very clean every day.  We even had our picnic table steamed cleaned while we were there.

4) I would certainly stay again at this RV Park if we are ever in the Charleston area again.  The traffic on US 17 is very heavy every day of the week making the trip into Charleston slow, but it is not very far to any of the attractions.
