General Description: Noccalula Falls Campground is located on the edge of Gadsden, Alabama just a few miles from I-59. Even though it is in the urban outskirts of Gadsden, it along with Noccalula Falls Park, occupy a significant section of Black Creek. All of the sites are back-in, but most have full hookups. Once you combine this with cable and free WiFi the campgrounds have all the amenities you could ask for along with nice views of Noccalula Falls and the Black Creek gorge within easy walking distance from your campsite. Other amenities include a clubhouse, laundry facilities, restroom/bathhouses, playgrounds, and propane. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring and some of the sites have free standing swinging benches.
1) The offices along with the clubhouse and laundry room are right at the entrance to the campgrounds, which has a gate that is lowered at night. The staff are friendly and helpful making for a nice environment in the park. This is a large campground with over 100 sites, all for transient visitors.
2) The sites are fairly small, but there is enough distance between them for a picnic table and fire ring. The water and cable hookups are a little strange for some of the sites as they share. We had to run our water hose under the RV and put in a second hose in order to reach the water hookup. In looking around this did not seem to be the norm as most sites had their own hookups. It was also nice to have a level concrete pad for the RV.
3) The cable reception was excellent and the free WiFi service was the best we have ever found, rivaling our hotspot for speed and connectivity.
4) While it is only a short walk to the falls, I would recommend not coming in late October, especially if there has been a drought. There was NO water in the creek, consequently the falls were not much to look at. From the huge overhang of the falls, they would be spectacular in the spring.
