General Description: Pickensville Campground is located just west of Pickensville, Alabama, on Aliceville Lake on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. The campground is a very large area with 176 campsites, most with at least electric and water hookups. While some of the campsites are along the waterway, where you can watch the barges, most are located on multiple loops through the mixed bottomland hardwoods. Amenities include laundry facilities at each of the bathroom/shower houses, lighted playgrounds with concrete basketball and volleyball courts, and a lot of peace and quiet in early spring.
1) The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially when we had an issue with our sewer as we were attempting to dump our tanks before pulling out.
2) While most of the sites are spacious back-in sites, there are 9 pull-through sites with sewer hookups. We were fortunate to obtain one of these pull-through sites although we had to settle for one that was not immediately along the waterway. We could still see the barges going by.
3) The bathrooms are clean and modern and provided good shelter during the thunderstorms in late February.
