1) Dam West Recreation Area is a very nice COE Campgrounds located just outside of Carlyle. The most attractive feature is a large Walmart within 2 miles of the campgrounds. It is also a short drive to St. Louis with its many attractions. All of the sites are back-in with electric hookups. There are no water hookups, however, there is a convenient faucet to fill your tanks as you enter the campgrounds.
2) The bathrooms are cleaned daily and are very modern. The staff was extremely friendly, assisting us with locating a first-come first-served site since we could not make reservations for the weekend. We would certainly stay here again.
