General Description: Conveniently located 2 miles south of the Indianapolis Beltway, Lake Haven Retreat provides all the advantages of the big city while staying in the outskirts. Within a 20 minute drive are the International Airport, downtown Indianapolis, Indianapolis 500 mile race track, and major shopping malls. Lake Haven offers all the amenities of a premier RV park including full hookup, pull through sites, a picturesque pond, playground equipment, laundry facilities, bathroom/showers, and propane. The older part of the Retreat offers plentiful shade, but the newer sites are larger and sunny.
1) Lake Haven Retreat is a very nice, large RV park with all the amenities. The sites are all gravel and adequate in size for a picnic table and fire ring. We were camped in the newer section of the park, so the sites were longer and more spacious, but no tree cover at all. The campground is far enough from IN 37, which is a very busy 4 lane highway, to eliminate the road noise, however, the park is situated right behind a fire station. At least once a day you would hear the sirens as the fire engines answer an emergency. It was busier then I would have expected, but not that distracting. There is also an RV repair shop on site, which is convenient if you have any work that needs to be done.
2) Our main reason for staying here was the proximity to the airport, which is a 15 minute drive around the beltway. For this reason it was a perfect location for us. Also the proximity to shopping malls was nice for a change.
3) The bathroom/shower facility was very nice and clean and the adjoining laundry facility had numerous high capacity machines. There were enough washers and dryers available that it was no problem getting our laundry done.
