Suwannee River State Park December 2013

General Description: Suwannee River State Park is located in the pan handle of Florida where the Withlacoochee River joins the Suwannee River.  The park has picnic, fishing, hiking, and canoeing facilities along with a full hookup campground with 23 sites.  The hiking trails loop trough surrounding hillsides and along the river.  They range from 0.25 to 18 miles long.  Historical features include earth works from the Civil War and a paddle wheel shaft from a 19th century steamboat.

Impressions:

1) We will need to visit this state park again since we did not have time to see any of it.  We arrived just at dusk in between heavy rain storms and left as soon as we could the next day.  The campsite was wooded and close to the bathrooms which were clean, but on the old side.
