Location: Salt Lick, Kentucky
Website: RV Park
General Description: Outpost Campground is located a few miles south of I-64 between Moorehead and Lexington, just off US 60 that parallels the interstate. The Campground is medium sized RV park with mostly seasonal campers. There are a few sites for transient campers in the last loop with full hookups. Other amenities include a swimming pool, playground, laundry facilities, and a small country store.
1) This is an old campground with many old seasonal campers, some sites that have been kept up, but a lot that have become rundown and trashy. Many of the sites also become swampy during any prolonged rains. The sites for transient visitors are all on the final loop, as far away from the office and bathrooms as possible, but most of these sites are pull-through with plenty of room for big rigs. There are full hookups available with 50 amp service.
2) As with the rest of the campgrounds, the bathroom/showers are old and need a lot of work. One of the toilets in the men side was broken for a couple of days, but there was a plumber there the day we left. They were kept reasonably clean, but it was difficult to tell due to the general degradation of the facilities.
3) The staff were friendly, especially since we did not have reservations and wanted to stay a week. It took them a while to determine what sites were open, but eventually we got a site that was thankfully not in the swampy part of the transient loop.
