North River Campground – September 2014

Location: Elizabeth City, North Carolina

Webpage: RV Park

General Description: North River Campground is located far away from any major city, yet is less than an hour from the ocean and other locations on the north side of Albermarle Sound.  Campsites are located around a large pond that features a fountain in the center, making a beautiful setting for each camping site.  The sites are mostly back-in with a lot of room between the sites and a few pull-throughs in the corners around the pond.  Each site has full hookups with cable TV and a concrete patio with table and benches.  The entire campground is beautifully landscaped.  Amenities include a small store and cafe, swimming pool, and laundry facilities.  Family oriented activities are planned for every weekend in the summer and many of the weekends in the fall and spring.

1) We were immediately impressed with the landscaping around the pond and at each site.  The sites were very large giving a lot of room between the sites.  The patios are a nice addition and one we hope to find again.

2) It did not bother us at all to be so far from any major city, so long as we planned on stopping at the store or gas station while we were out.  Consequently we did not shop at any store more than once.   However, it was far enough away from any city lights that on a clear night you could just make out the Milky Way.

3) They have only a single bathhouse to service the entire campground, which was not a problem for us since the campground was not busy, even over the weekend.  The bathroom was a little dated, but it was kept clean every day.  The staff were more than helpful and very friendly.  We would certainly stay again at this campground.  One of the best so far!
