General Description: Applegate Cove Campground is located on the Robert S. Kerr Reservoir on the Arkansas River just south of Salisaw, Oklahoma. The Kerr Reservoir has over 43,000 acres of water and 250 miles of shoreline and has long been recognized for its outstanding fishing opportunities. Boating and kayaking are also popular on the reservoir. There are also miles of hiking trails winding through the hills and along the shoreline. The campgrounds had RV sites with water and electric hookups with bathroom/shower facilities. Other amenities include playgrounds and boat ramp.
1) The Applegate Cove Campground is beginning to show its age. The paved roads are single lane and narrow with tight turns, so you have to be careful maneuvering your RV to get it lined up. All of the sites are back-in but most are deep enough for big rigs if you can back them up among the many trees. The sites are relatively level, but the pavement is broken up on some of them.
2) The bathrooms are clean and modern. The campground does not have an entrance station, so you are on your own finding an open site and you have to go online to reserve it before parking you RV. There is a campground host at the entrance, but all they can do is give you a receipt once you have reserved your site.
