General Description: Located half an hour north of Pittsburgh, Rose Point Park is located in the Allegheny Mountains of Western Pennsylvania. Rose Point Park is a large campground with over 200 sites ranging in size from tent sites to pull-through RV sites. Hookups range from full hookup to water and electricity. Recreational amenities include swimming pool, paved basketball court, volleyball court, lighted ball court, tow large playgrounds, and even a small 3 pin disc golf course. Other amenities include laundry facilities, propane, and small country store. During the summer there are a number of planned family activities over the weekend which includes dances, bingo, and other games.
1) While this is a large campground, nearly all of the sites are for seasonal campers. There are only about 20 sites for transients and these are all located at the front of the campground. These sites do include pull-through and back-in sites with full hookups. However, we noticed that a number of these “transient” sites were for scheduled “weekend” campers as they pulled 3-4 RVs out of their storage area to set them up for the weekend.
2) The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Since we had a back-in site that was a little difficult to get into, we had two staff assisting us to get into the site. They were very helpful. While I suspect most of the sites for transients, since our site was on the outside edge of the area, we had to use blocks in order to level the RV.
3) The laundry facilities were conveniently located within easy walking distance from the transient sites and the restrooms were kept clean, even over the weekend when the campground was completely full.
