Location: Opp, Alabama
Website: Alabama State Park
General Description: Frank Jackson State Park is a 2050 acre park surrounding Lake Jackson in southeast Alabama just outside the small town of Opp. The main attraction is fishing in the lake, however, there is also a modern RV campground, picnic area, and hiking trails. The campground is relatively small with 32 sites with full hookups, a modern, new bathroom facilities, laundry facility, and free WiFi.
1) While Frank Jackson State Park is a bit off the main highways, it is a short drive to Andalusia with all the southern town amenities. The campground is small, however, there is a mix of back-in and pull-through sites, all with full hookups and views of the lake. For it’s size, it is a very nice campground that I would highly recommend. The WiFi reception was excellent and according to the website they even have cable hookups, although we saw no evidence of it.
2) The bathroom/shower facilities were very nice and essentially brand new. It was nice having a heated bathroom during the overnight freezing temperatures while we were there.
