Location: Houghton, Michigan
Webpage: RV Park
General Description: As the name implies, this RV Park is owned and operated by the City of Houghton, Michigan. It is a very small RV campground located along the canal within the city itself. All 25 sites have full hookups and paved pads and porches. The only amenities outside of the sites is the proximity to all Houghton and Hancock, across the canal, has to offer. However, each site has a fire ring along with a picnic table and bench under a wooden canopy overlooking the canal.
1) While the sites are all back-in and narrow with the feeling of a parking lot, the provided canopy and view over the canal more than makes up for it. It is close to a busy highway, however, the intervening hillside blocks most of the traffic sounds. It can be a little tricky getting to the park since our GPS unit attempted to bring us in the wrong way which would have been a big mistake. The owners warned us of this possibility when we made the reservations, so we called for directions before we arrived and had no problem.
2) There are no bathrooms/showers that are part of the RV park, however, there is a small city playground just outside the park with a nice, clean bathroom/showers facility. The walk was no further than we have experienced in many larger campgrounds.
3) The office is very small, however, the managers of the park were more than helpful with brochures and tips of local attractions, etc.
