General Description: Pelican Lake Campground is located on the shores of Pelican Lake, south of Rhinelander, Wisconsin. While most of the campground is devoted to seasonal campers, they do have 50 sites for transient visitors. These sites all have water and electric hookups, both 30 and 50 amps. Amenities include a game room, playground with volleyball, shuffleboard, and horseshoe pits, swimming area on Pelican Lake, bathrooms with pay showers, and laundry room.
1) The transient sites are in a grassy area, somewhat separate from the large number of seasonal sites. They are spacious with plenty of room for a picnic table and fire ring. The hookups are at the very back end of the sites which can make it difficult to get close enough for the electric and water hose to reach. The major drawback to the campground was the dump station which was situated on the wrong side. While nice for anyone entering the campground, it meant having to circle the campground twice in order to dump the tanks.
2) The bathrooms are ultra-modern and very nice. The toilets and faucets were all motion activated along with a high powered hand dryer. I was surprised to see pay showers, as this is the only commercial campground we have stayed in that required multiple quarter in order to take a shower. As we use our on-board shower, this was not a problem for us.
3) The owners were extremely nice and helpful, even providing guidance with backing the RV into the site. We had a question with the electrical connection that remained a mystery and they were very prompt checking it out for us.
