Location: Kingsport, Tennessee
Webpage: KOA Kampground
General Description: A very nice KOA Kampground right off I-81 in between Bristol and Kingsport. It is far enough from the Interstate that you cannot hear any traffic. They have numerous sites of all kind from pull-through to back-in with full hookups. The swimming pool is a good size and the pavilion is used to serve special lunches (such as Labor Day) and large screen TV to show Football games on the weekends. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restroom/showers were a bit small, but adequate with separate doors to each unit. They were very clean and quaint, yet modern.
1) We stayed in one of the premium sites which was a large pull-through with a wooden porch, iron outdoor table and chairs, and a metal firepit on the porch. The wooden porch was a nice addition, especially when it rained, and it was nice not to have to worry about our outdoor chairs getting wet.
2) Be aware, the larger pull-through sites are used as two sites during busy weekends, such as Labor Day. We had a small pop-up camper stuck in behind us over the weekend. They had their own hookups, but it was a surprise.
3) The lunch they served on the Sunday prior to Labor Day was fun. We enjoyed hamburgers and hot dogs along with side dishes provided by other guests. We met a couple from Alabama that sold us some interesting potato sleeves for the microwave made out of cloth with the Auburn and Texas A&M logos.
