General Description: Last Resort Campground is easy to find as it is just off US 30 just west of Valpariso in northwest Indiana. There are a few pull through sites, however, most of the sites are a mixture of back-in sites for RVs and grassy areas for tents. All RV sites have electric (30 amp), water, and most have sewer hookups as well. Other amenities include restroom/shower, laundry facility, catch and release pond, swimming pool, playground area with volleyball court, and propane.
1) Since the campground is alongside US 30, there is a considerable amount of road noise. However, our site had a dirt berm separating it from the highway which cut down a lot on the noise. Over 75% of the campground is occupied by seasonal campers leaving on about a dozen sites for transient visitors. We had a back-in site that was barely long enough for our rig. We had to park the truck next to the RV cutting out nearly all of the space between sites. In addition, the site sloped up towards the back which meant we had to block up the front of the RV in order to level it. Of course, this does have an advantage as we could easily get under the front end to get out of the rain.
2) The restrooms/showers are located behind the office, but were kept fairly clean. The restrooms are a bit dated and could use some upkeep, but adequate for our needs.
3) They are fairly strict with their 5 mph speed limit in the campground. We came in a little fast early in the week and were reminded about the speed limit as we got out of our truck.
4) They did not have any celebrations for the fourth of July weekend, except for a silly “parade” of their golf carts all decked out with American flags. While we have enjoyed the fourth at other parks in the past that had entertainment and fireworks, it also meant we had a quiet week without a lot of noise from fireworks going off all weekend.
