General Description: Burchfield Barnch Park is located near Holt Lake on the Black Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway northeast of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Camping consists of 36 sites with electric and water hookups located along the river and up a small cove. All sites have concrete pads, picnic tables, and fire rings. Amenities include laundry facilities at the restrooms, swimming beach on the river, and boat access to the river.
1) The campground is split into two loops, one along the river and the other up a small cove. Our campsite was up the small cove where the sites are placed alongside a creek. Each site is spacious with plenty of room between the sites and alongside a bubbling creek.
2) The campsite loop actually crisscrosses across the creek a number of times with very nice stone bridges over the creek. Each bridge has lights at either end, which are the only lights in the campground apart from the campers.
3) The bathroom facility on our loop is located across a footbridge over the creek and is very picturesque. The bathrooms are cleaned daily, heated, and very modern. Along with the playground just outside the door, the creek, and a nice flower bed it is one of the nicer bathroom facilities we have seen.
4) The campground is located on the bank of the Black Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway, just downstream of a massive lock and dam. The dam creates a wide slow moving river perfect for fishing and swimming.
