Ozark Folk Center State Park

Location: Mountain View, Arkansas

Webpage: Arkansas State Park

General Description: Ozark Folk Center State Park is dedicated to perpetuating the art, culture, and crafts of the Ozarks.  In the Craft Village are more than 20 active artisans demonstrating their craft for instruction and sale.  “Handcrafted items like flame-painted copper jewelry, leather purses and goods, baskets, brooms, stained glass, ironwork, pottery, knives, weavings, quilts, wood carvings, spun yarn, soap, candles, and more are made onsite.”  Music is also a part of the experience with daily performances and special concerts of Ozark Mountain music.

Impressions:

1) The Craft Village is itself a picturesque location with many flowers, plants, and sculptures set among the buildings hosting the many craftsmen on site.  We spent most of the day wandering the many shops and talking with the artisans about the craft and lifestyle working in the park.

2)  We also enjoyed the local music being performed in the open air venue within the park.
