General Description: Ray Behrens Corps of Engineers Campground is on the southeastern shore of Mark Twain Lake on the Salt River. A variety of campsites are available, all with electric hookups. Many of the sites also have full hookups. All of the campsites are back-in but are all spacious with plenty of shade. Amenities include bathroom/showers, playground, and marina.
1) This is one of three COE campgrounds on Mark Twain Lake, so I can only speak of this campground. Ray Behrens Campground is divided up into three loops, two of which have reserveable sites. Thankfully, one of the loops was first-come first-served since there were no reserveable sites for the weekend when I looked a month before. Most of these sites had full hookups and on Monday there were a number of sites available. The site we choose had a lot of room between sites and was very nice. It had a paved pad and gravel porch.
2) The bathrooms were very modern and clean. The volunteers operating the check-in booth were very nice and gave us a lot of pointers about things to do in the area.
