General Description: Located behind the Barnyard Flea Market on US 1 between Columbia and Lexington, South Carolina, the Barnyard RV Park has over 100 sites large enough for any size RV. All of the sites are pull-through with full hookups and most have a concrete patio. Amenities are limited to a laundry/bathroom facility and small store. The sites are all grass on sand with a few young trees and bushes between most sites.
1) For the price ($180 per week) this is a good RV Park. I would have felt better with the traffic on US Highway 1 and the activity surrounding the Flea Market on the weekend if there was controlled access to the RV Park. The entrance to the RV Park is actually out the back of the parking area for the Flea Market. However, we had no problems and the RV Park is obviously very popular. It would fill up every evening, even the overflow along the access road, with a turn over of about a third of the RVs every day. There are also a number of people living long term at the Park.
2) The sites are wide enough so you did not feel you were living in a parking lot and they were well taken care of. It is nice to have a concrete patio right off the RV steps with a picnic table. However, there is no shade in the park as the trees are all less than 10 feet tall. The “Duck Pond” is a fenced in area with some captive ducks that they feed every day. It was not very pretty as it is obviously a holding pond for the run off from the large flea market parking lot with little vegetation around the pond.
3) The bathrooms were kept clean, but they were old and heavily used. The staff were friendly enough, but I found them to be busy dealing with the turnover every day. They had little time to chat with any visitors.
