General Description: Dewayne Hayes Campground is located on Lake Columbus on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. The campgrounds are strung out along an inlet of the waterway and consists of 110 campsites, 100 with electric and water hookups for RVs. There are also a limited number of sites with sewer hookups. All campsites have fire rings, grills, picnic tables, and lantern posts. Other amenities include bathroom/showers with laundry facilities at each and playgrounds scattered through the campground.
1) Dewayne Hayes is a nice medium sized campgrounds along the Tenn-Tom Waterway, which is the man-made connection between the two rivers. With only a few pull-thru sites, most of the back-in sites are long enough to accommodate any size rig.
2) The volunteers were very friendly and helpful. They even offered to blow off our site following an overnight thunderstorm that dropped a lot of branches and sweetgum balls on our site.
3) The bathrooms were modern and clean. We did not take advantage of the laundry facilities as the proximity of Columbus made it convenient to use a high capacity laundry mat in town.
