General Description: Located near Poughkeepsie, New York in the Hudson River Valley, Sylvan Lake Beach Park offers easy access to I-84 and I-87 to New York City. Situated on 65 rolling acres along Sylvan Lake, the campground offers both wooded and open RV sites. All sites are back-in and those in the open meadow have sewer hookups, all with 30 amp and water hookups. Amenities include restroom/bathroom facility, beach access to the lake, playground, and basketball court.
1) in general the campground is a bit rundown and in need of work, although our meadow site had all that we needed. We had a couple of very friendly neighbors from the area that were extremely helpful in finding local sites to visit. All the sites are back-in sites, but without any trees in the way and a large central area in the meadow, the back-in was easy to negotiate.
2) The bathroom was old and left open all the time, however, it was reasonably clean and adequate.
3) Our site did have a sewer hookup, but the access was uphill slightly from our RV. This meant we had to pick up the hose to empty it whenever we wanted to use. However, since we only empty our tanks before we leave after a week, it was not really an issue for us.
4) At one time they had laundry facilities, but the room was locked when we were there and they are obviously using it for storage.
