Leech Lake Corps of Engineers

Location: Federal Dam, Minnesota

Webpage: Corps of Engineers

General Description: Leech Lake Recreation Area is located in the heart of Chippewa National Forest on the shores of Leach Lake.  The campground contains 73 wooded RV sites with electric hookups including 5 with full hookups.  Amenities include bathroom/showers, laundry, dump station, boat ramp, playground, and courts for basketball, badminton, and shuffleboard.

1) The campground at Leech Lake Recreation Area is a large campground with many spacious and shady sites for RVs.  The roads are all paved, however, the landing pads are gravel and narrow with trees on both sides.  Each site has a picnic table and fire ring and plenty of room to spread out.  While water is available it is not conveniently located so it is best to arrive with full fresh water tanks.  Due to the marsh around the lake, the campground can have a problem with mosquitoes, but we did not have much problem as we spent little time outside around a fire.

2) The bathrooms are modern and clean daily.  You will need a lock code to access which is given to you when you check in.  We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful when we checked in.
